Urban Sketching: An Artist’s Guide

Read

Confession: I have an absurdly large collection of urban sketching books and spend more time admiring their artwork than actually drawing. That’s okay. This is a beginner’s book, and right up my alley. Andreu sketches around Newbury in England and runs workshops, and she starts at the actual beginning — what pen, what paper, how to hold the thing, where to sit, how to pick a scene out of a street that has too much in it. Then composition, line, adding color, and short exercises meant to be done fast so nobody freezes over a blank page.
